A chartered plane with a Brazilian first division football team crashed near Medellin while on its way to the finals of a regional tournament, killing 71 people, Colombian officials said. Six people survived.

The British Aerospace 146 short-haul plane, operated by a charter airline named LaMia, declared an emergency and lost radar contact just before 10pm on Monday (0300 GMT) because of an electrical failure, aviation authorities said.

The aircraft, which had departed from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, was transporting the Chapecoense team from southern Brazil for the first leg of a two-game Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional of Medellin, which was due to be played on Wednesday.

"What was supposed to be a celebration has turned into a tragedy," Medellin mayor Federico Gutierrez said from the search and rescue command centre.

The club said in a brief statement on its Facebook page that "may God accompany our athletes, officials, journalists and other guests travelling with our delegation".

Dozens of rescuers working through the night were initially heartened after pulling three passengers alive from the wreckage.

But as the hours passed, and heavy rainfall and low visibility grounded helicopters and complicated efforts to reach the mountainside crash site, the mood soured to the point that authorities had to freeze until dusk what was by then a body recovery operation.

Money Doesn't Makes You Happy-TONTO DIKEH

Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh today dished out some relationship advice to her fans.

Tonto wrote : HE FORGOT ABOUT YOU.REMEMBER THAT!!!

I'm not sure why but we all do it.
Many beings waste years of their lives, chasing after people they can't have, or lifestyles that aren't sustainable, for reasons we don't know.

You can't have a person, either they will f*ck with you, or they won't.
Nobody is out of your league, they just don't want you in their life.

We are all human so we all make mistakes, but a mistake made twice is a choice.
Try not to seek the best looking, or those with the most money, for these are superficial ideas and money doesn't make you happy.

You make you happy, so if you are in a situation with a person and you have the freedom to choose, but you are unhappy, this is your fault not theirs.
Stop wasting your time.
Leave the situation.
You should be looking for someone who shares sympathetic vibrations.

Someone who is on your wavelength, someone who can share the same frequency as you. Everything is a vibration, positive or negative. All elements are made up of atoms. And these are made up of a nucleus, protons (positive), neutrons (no charge) and electrons (negative). Opposites attract but if someone is in a negative space, you being in a positive space, isn't necessarily going to help them and vice versa. You choose your own happiness, as you can choose the people you are around. (Obviously free from war, famine, poverty, drought, oppressive systems of government/religious opinions, disease etc) If you aren't happy within yourself, you can't be truly happy around others.

Health is not just physical.
I think this is why people Who know me love me, because I am happy and I love people.
Don't chase waterfalls, on the surface they appear beautiful, but they are usually hiding rocks that will kill you.

Naira Crashes To 480 Units Per Dollar

The Nigerian Naira on Tuesday crashed to 480 units per dollar at the parallel market.

Last week the naira was relatively stable, trading in a N465 - N473 band to the greenback. However, DSS' recent clampdown on BDC operators forced the exchangers underground, making a scarce commodity scarce
At the interbank end of the foreign exchange market, the naira sold at N305.25 the same rate it was quoted on Monday according to data provided by FMDQ.

Meanwhile, the external reserves of the country continued to rise steadily despite the activities of the militants in the oil rich Niger Delta region.

How i will stop atiku from becoming the president says the formal PDP board of trustee

Former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustee, Tony Anenih, has revealed that he stopped former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, from being President.

Anenih, who has announced he is stepping out of politics, said this in his book titled ‘My Life and Nigerian Politics’, which was presented in Abuja on Saturday.

He explained that Atiku wanted to become the President, when former President Olusegun Obasanjo was contesting for a second term.

“As a result of my preparations for Chief Obasanjo’s second tenure, I stepped on the toes of many of those who did not want him to seek a second term. These are the people I can now refer to as members of the ‘G3’. These were General Ibrahim Babangida, (ex-) Vice- President Atiku Abubakar and the (ex-) National Security Adviser, General Aliu Gwarzo,” Anenih said.

“There was no other way I could have offended the vice-president other than that I prevented him from being PDP’s presidential candidate in the 2003 presidential election. He erroneously believed that he was the only politician at the Villa and that he was better qualified than the President. I was well ahead of him in all his plans to prevent Chief Obasanjo from running (for re-election).”

Anenih also claimed he recommended Atiku as Vice-President, after he had just won the Adamawa State governorship election.

He added: “I asked Obasanjo whether he would want a vice-president that would give him absolute confidence and allow him to sleep with his two eyes closed or whether he would want a vice-president he did not trust.

“He answered that he would like to sleep with his two eyes closed. It was at this point that I asked him: ‘What about Atiku?’ Chief Obasanjo’s answer was that Atiku had just won his governorship election and the law might not allow him to come on board as his running mate.

“We both decided to get a lawyer to advise us and Barrister Alimi Rasaq of Kwara State was sent for. He advised us that there was nothing in the constitution that prevented Atiku from being his running mate; especially as Atiku had not been sworn in.”

Pep Guardiola-Two things iheanacho must do to get back to the team

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has listed two things Kelechi Iheanacho must do to force himself back into the Manchester City team.

The Super Eagles forward has only started three Premier League matches this season under the Spaniard, and with Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus, set to arrive in January, his chances will be further limited.

With Guardiola opting for a lone-striker system, Sergio Aguero is his first choice.

When asked what would have to happen to get Iheanacho more first team opportunities, Guardiola said: “Change the coach maybe! (first)

“Of course he deserves to play, but there are many, many others who deserve to play too.

“Our job is so uncomfortable for these kind of decisions.

“Normally when these guys don’t train good, when they are not nice guys with his team-mates, it doesn’t matter, but that is not the case with Kele.

“My advice is keep going, keep fighting, (second) sooner or later everything is coming back, and of course he’s going to have his minutes.

“Until now he played good, but in the big teams sometimes that happens. You can play just 11 players and that’s all.”

House of reps members tells the formal President You are the grandfather of corruption

You are the grandfather of corruption- House of Reps members tell Olusegun Obasanjo

Members of the House of Representatives have blasted former President Olusegun Obasanjo for referring to them as corrupt officials. Obasanjo at a function in Lagos yesterday, said the National Assembly stinks to high heavens and members of the National Assembly were very corrupt.

In a swift reaction, the House of Representatives members today said the former President is the grandfather of corruption in Nigeria and that his main reason for speaking negatively of the house was because his third term agenda was opposed by the house during his administration. The position of the lawmakers was made known today at a press conference by the Chairman, House committee on Media and Publicity, Abdulrazak Namdas. His press statement reads...

“Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to former President Olusegun Obasanjo at a lecture he delivered recently, wherein, in his characteristic manner accused everybody but himself of corruption. He ventured to accuse the National Assembly of Budget padding, accused the House of criminal activities of threatening the life of a “whistleblower”, lampooned constituency projects which he approved as President, ventured to discuss the budget of National Assembly which is highly underfunded?

In the speech Namdas said the House would ordinarily not join issues with the former President as he has held an office that deserves respect and reverence. However, because of the material misstatement of facts, outright lies and falsehoods, and mischievous innuendo introduced in his statement, we are left with no option but to correct him. We have repeatedly maintained that there was no “padding” of the 2016 Appropriation Act, which is a legitimate document passed by the National Assembly, authenticated by the Clerk to the National Assembly as provided in the Acts Authentication Act and assented to by Mr. President. It is most unfortunate that a former President of Chief Obasanjo’s stature would allow himself to be hoodwinked and procured by a renegade member of the House, who embarked on massive propaganda and lies just because he was removed from office. For the avoidance of doubt, there is no crime that was committed by the National Assembly by exercising its constitutional function of appropriation. If Chief Obasanjo has an issue with the execution of the 2016 Budget or indeed other Appropriation Acts, he should direct his anger elsewhere. He claimed that the National Assembly Budget is very high, when by all standards, the National Assembly is grossly underfunded and is hampered from effectively and legitimately carrying out its constitutionally assigned functions. The National Assembly Budget funds a bureaucracy of about 5,000 civil servants. It has some other agencies under its preview such as the National Assembly Service Commission with its own staff of about 500; even the Public Complaints Commission is now a parastatal of the National Assembly. National Assembly Budget also funds the National Institute for Legislative Studies, which is a legislative think-tank and highly rated academic institution that serves both National and State Houses of Assembly and even international legislators. All these agencies also have their capital budget including development of their headquarters, procurement of office equipment, procurement of regular items for running their offices; the National Assembly maintain legislative aides of about 3,000 in number, that aid the work of the Assembly; it also conducts regular public hearings involving the media and stakeholders and oversight activities, involving huge sums of money. The cost implication of running the National Assembly is high because of the nature of our Presidential democracy. Then of course, there are 109 Senators and 360 members of the House of Representatives that require proper equipment to function effectively. They require adequate travel and transport support to carry out legislative functions. The National Assembly also has buildings and offices to build and maintain. National Assembly staff and members attend conferences, trainings, seminars to keep abreast of legislative developments worldwide. The activities are very encompassing and expensive. It is also unbecoming of a former President to quote figures of sums of money that are factually incorrect. No member of the House of Representatives receives N10m every month. The salaries and allowances of members of the House are as determined by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). Of course further sums of money are spent as running costs, that is, the cost of running the office of a member. If a Minister, Chief Executive or Director in a Ministry travels on official duties, for instance, do you include the cost of his ticket and accommodation as part of his salary or allowances? Does the cost of stationeries and maintenance of equipment like computers used in their offices, form part of their salaries and allowances? These are some of the costs that must be taken care of by the National Assembly and the media calls these costs “jumbo pay”. For goodness sake, the National Assembly is an arm of government, not just an ordinary agency of government. Examples abound, CBN, NNPC, NCC etc. Allowances paid to even junior staff of some of these government agencies cannot be compared to what members of National Assembly enjoy. Undoubtedly, the former President Obasanjo is understandably angry with the National Assembly as an institution having foiled his ambition for a third-term in office even after trying to corrupt the members with a bribe of at least N50m each. Lest we forget, the person who introduced corruption to the National Assembly is Chief Olesugn Obasanjo. He birthed the 4th Republic National Assembly with corrupt practices from day one; indeed the first day of the Republic. He bribed both PDP, ANPP and AD legislators on their inauguration in 1999 to vote against the majority candidate of PDP, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo. That was how Senator Evan Enwerem became Senate President. Have we forgotten the sacks of money displayed on the floor of the House of Representatives being bribe money paid by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to some Honourable members to impeach Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ghali N’abba? Have we forgotten that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo used his position as President to extort money from businessmen and contractors with his government to build his presidential library? The list of his corrupt acts while in office is endless. Unquestionably, he is the greatest corrupt person ever to hold office in Nigeria. He remains the grandfather of corruption in Nigeria and lacks the moral authority to discuss corruption or indeed abuse of office in Nigeria as he remains the most corrupt Nigerian on record. It is unfortunate that he has started his very familiar method of bringing down governments. He did it to Alhaji Shehu Shagari, he did it to Gen. Buhari, he did same to Gen. Babangida, he attempted to bring down Gen. Abacha before he imprisoned him for treason; he made frantic efforts to derail the government of President Ya’ardua when he couldn’t use him. He supported President Goodluck Jonathan but when he refused to take dictation, he turned against him. He supported President Buhari, but since he has sensed that Nigeria is having economic difficulties under him, he has pounced to derail his government. The way Chief Obasanjo talks gives the impression that he is a lifetime opposition leader who has never held any office. What did he do about the issues he raised in his 8 years as President? This is a man with unlimited access to President Buhari. Or is it because he has not appointed all his cronies as requested? We may never know. His stuck in trade is blackmail, subversion and treachery.  We wish him well

Biafra Isn't All About Southeast-IPOB list six states that will join the republic

The Movement for the Actialization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) yesterday faulted President Muhammadu Buhari for recognising only the South-East geo-political zone as states canvasing Biafra’s independence.

While the group said it was a good omen in the first instance for the President to acknowledge that Biafra had become a household name in the east, they disagreed that Delta, Rivers, Akwa-Ibom, Edo, Bayelsa and Cross- River were missing out.

The groups said the Federal Government goofed by forgetting that the five eastern states, namely, Anambra, Abia, Enugu, Imo and Ebonyi, were neatly knitted with their neighbouring South South zone in the old Eastern region.

The newly appointed MASSOB leader in Delta state, Chinedu Amaifeobu supported by the Zonal Commander of Security, Ignatius Adili-Ajana, in Asaba yesterday said the South East and the South- South states were abinitio tied by the same umbilical cord.

According to him, the two geo-political zones were bonded by the same cultural, spiritual, moral and religious heritage, hence, the government of Nigeria would not hound them out of Biafra. He said: “We urge our South-South brothers and sisters not to be deluded by the divide and rule antics of the Nigerian government but remember the sons and daughters of whom they are.”

Ondo state state governorship election

The absence of Justice Nnamdi Dimgba has stalled hearing in a suit challenging the candidature of Rotimi Akeredolu, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the Nov. 26 Ondo State Governorship Election.

Dr. Olusegun Abraham, a stalwart of the APC in Ondo, filed the suit at the Federal High Court Abuja, on the ground that the process that produced Akeredolu was illegal.

Abraham alleged that the process that produced the defendant as the governorship candidate was not in conformity with the law.

The suit is also seeking an interim order to restrain the APC from parading Akeredolu as its governorship candidate and restrain Akeredolu from parading himself as such pending the determination of the motion.

At the resumed sitting on Wednesday, officials of the court informed parties to the suit that the Judge was ill and unable to attend the day’s sitting.

Consequently, lawyers representing both parties picked Dec. 6, as the next adjourned date for hearing of the case.

Zlatan wins swedish player of the year

The Swedish FA are now planning to erect a statue in homage to the great man as he once more walked off with the Golden Ball title given to the country's best player.

Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic will have to make room in his trophy cabinet for yet another Swedish Player of the Year gong, as he won the award for the 10th consecutive year.

The 35 year old, who retired from international football in 2016 shortly after the Sweden team crashed out of the European Championship, was first named the nation's premier footballer in 2005.

And he has gone on to retain the title a further 10 times since then, with only Fredrik Ljungberg, in 2006, managing to break his stranglehold.

The figure is a Swedish record: and the country's FA plans to pay homage to the ex-Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Barcelona hitman by erecting a statue of him outside of Stockholm's Friends Arena.

"It feels unreal. Many are thinking 'Why him?' and so on, but after all the hard work over 15 years in the national team and 20 years in my club career, it feels like it's being appreciated," Ibrahimovic said as he accepted his award.

"You usually get this after you die, but I still feel alive. When I die, this (statue) will live on forever."

Full time result Manchester vs arsenal

FULL TIME: Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal

And that’s that! United deserved to win that game, but they sat back at the end, and paid the price. Mourinho and Wenger shake hands in the sporting fashion, which is nice to see, but you know who’ll be happier with this result. Wenger’s substitutes combined to earn an unlikely point for Arsenal; Mourinho’s conservatism, when his team were sparkling in attack, cost United two. Not a classic, but some late drama nonetheless. The greatest rivalry of the Premier League era delivers again.

Timberlake never knew how sweet candy mandy moore really was

Years ago,Justin Timberlake didn't realize how sweet like candy Mandy Moore really was. This actress appeared onThe Late Show Tuesday and opened up to host James Corden about her teenage pop star years. When Moore was just 15 years old, she went on tour with the beloved Backstreet Boysand'N Sync. Despite having a plethora of fond memories from her time touring the country with them, there is still one moment that haunts her to this day."I remember distinctly one time walking backstage, and I didn't really see much of the guys because I was the measly opening act," she recalled.Photos"Nobody cared about me, butJustin Timberlake and somehow there was a conversation about feet or foot size. Theywere comparing shoe size. And all the background dancers and 'N Sync background dancers and my background dancers, and I stroll up at 15 like freaking out that Justin Timberlake is there."But what could have been an exciting meet-and-greet turned out to be a wake-up call. "He was like, 'You have big feet for a girl,'" she recalled him saying."I'm sure he doesn't remember this at all but I was so impressionable, and I thought the world of him and he was on apedestal. I mean 16 years later it stuck with me, so it really scarred me emotionally."Mandy admitted that she's a size 10 shoeand added, "but I'm 5 feet 10 inches tall."She added, "It was embarrassing."Perhaps slightly more cringe-worthy to theA Walk to Rememberactress is recalling her lack of dance skills.
