How 30 years old man who drank man power died while having sex

A 30-year-old man, Abalise Adimonye, has reportedly lost his life during a marathon sex with a teenager in Anambra State.

Adimonye allegedly took some sex enhancement drugs to meet up with the sexual demands of his 18-year-old lover.

PM News is reporting that the incident happened in the Onitsha area of the state on Thursday when the man took his girlfriend to a popular hotel located at Zik Avenue at Fegge, Onitsha, where he was set for an all-night sex romp with the girl.

Luck ran out on him when in the middle of the night, the hotel management reportedly heard the screams of the young girl identified only as Ify.

On getting to the room, they were said to have found Adimonye panting for breathe but before he was taken to a hospital, he gave up the ghost.

The hotel manager. Reported the incident at the Fegge Police Division, which led to the arrest of the teenager.

The girl reportedly told the police that Adimonye, a businessman and a native of Umuchu in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, had taken some sex-enhancing drugs to boost his performance.

As the story goes, the drug worked as he lasted too long in the sex romp and after a while, he suddenly became unconscious which prompted the girl to raise the alarm that attracted management of the hotel.

The corpse has been evacuated to a morgue in the town.

CHRISTMAS CAROL ACCIDENTALLY PUBLISHES 2PAC'S 'HAIL MARY' LYRICS

There's mistakes, and then there's divine interventions that are too perfect for this world.
One of Sri Lanka's biggest Christmas Carol services accidentally published the entire lyrics to 2Pac 's vitriolic classic banger ' Hail Mary ' in place of the rather more traditional Catholic prayer.
Thousands of people attended the carol service at Colombo 's Nelum Pokuna (Lotus Pond) Theatre (similar to Sydney's Opera House ), and opened their programmes to find possibly the world's first recorded incident of the word 'pussy' appearing in a Christmas service.

Oscar to Shanghai SIPG is almost a done deal

Chelsea have agreed to sell Oscar to Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG on a permanent deal believed to be worth around £52m, the club have confirmed.
The Brazilian will become the most expensive player in China once he completes his deal, with Shanghai ready to offer him a contract worth a reported £400,000-a-week, overtaking the current highest earner in his new teammate Hulk and his £317,000-a-week.
The deal will also make Oscar the highest-paid player in world football pre-tax, surpassing the £365,000-a-week salary that both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are believed to be on. However, their contracts are thought to include much larger bonuses that take their total wages beyond Oscar’s.
A statement released by the club on Friday morning read: “Chelsea Football Club and Shanghai SIPG have agreed terms for the permanent transfer of Oscar.
“The 25-year-old will join the Chinese Super League team at the beginning of the January transfer window. He has been a Chelsea player for four-and-a-half years, helping us lift the Premier League, League Cup and Europa League as well as scooping two Chelsea Goal of the Season awards after stunning strikes against Juventus in 2012, on his full debut, and QPR in 2014.”

HURIWA tells ECOWAS to drop Buhari as mediator in Gambian election crisis

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) wants the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), to drop President Muhammadu Buhari as the joint chairman of the committee mediating over the political impasse in The Gambia.
The pro-democracy and non-governmental organisation said it smacks of unprecedented hypocrisy and political immorality for the regional group to have the President of Nigeria in that trouble shooting position when his administration is in violation of a binding judgment of the highest constitutional court in the region, the ECOWAS court of justice, which ordered the immediate freedom for the erstwhile National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
The National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf, in a statement said it was ludicrous for President Buhari to accept to carry out a peace-building job for a regional group that his administration had jettisoned an enforceable judicial decision.
Besides, the Rights group said President Buhari failed to respect the Federal High Court of Nigeria, which in its Abuja division made several binding orders granting bails to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mr. Nnamdi Kanu and the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki.
HURIWA said: “The disrespect to a binding order of ECOWAS Court of Justice is a serious breach which mustn’t be overlooked by the member states. “What moral high ground is President Buhari standing on to demand that The Gambian President obey his nation’s electoral law and quit office for the lawfully and democratically elected President elect of Gambia when his administration in Nigeria has rubbished the integrity of both the judicial institutions of Nigeria and the regional bloc?”
HURIWA also wants ECOWAS to tell President Buhari to respect the ruling of the ECOWAS court because if the intransigent and defeated President of Gambia is to be persuaded to quit in accordance with democratic and global best practices it therefore follows that equity demands that President Buhari who is in breach of a subsisting judgment must be compelled to comply with the decision of the ECOWAS court and release on bail the detained former National Security Adviser Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd).
The ECOWAS team was insistent that Jammeh hand over power “within constitutional deadlines, and in accordance with electoral laws of The Gambia.”

Punch reports that Onuoha who is also known as Nwa Pastor, had been declared wanted over a series of robberies, » murder and cult activities

Isis claim attack for berlin truck attack that kill 12 people

BERLIN — The German capital was on high alert Tuesday with one or more attackers still at large in a deadly truck assault on a Christmas market, an act claimed by the Islamic State that struck at the heart of Europe’ s Christian traditions.
Chancellor Angela Merkel decried Monday ’ s assault — in which a truck carrying a payload of steel plowed into festive stalls and fairgoers in Berlin , leaving 12 dead and dozens injured — as a presumed “ terror attack , ” even as German police scrambled to find the culprit . The only suspect so far — a Pakistani asylum seeker taken into custody shortly after the bloodshed — was released by police Tuesday because of insufficient evidence .
Late Tuesday, the Islamic State , through the affiliated Amaq news agency, claimed that the attacker was a “ soldier” responding to its call to target nations fighting the group in Iraq and Syria . The Islamic State has wielded the term before to describe lone wolves inspired by its rhetoric , and its level of involvement, if any , in coordinating the attack remained unclear .

Donald trump in fear of loosing his presidential seat after todays Electoral College votes

For Anti - Trump supporters , there is still some glimmer of hope that president- elect Donald Trump won ’t be sworn in as president of the United States come January 2017 due to today’s Electoral College votes .
In the recently concluded U . S Presidential election , Trump won the electoral college votes , defeating Clinton in major states , while Clinton won the popular votes , amassing over 2 million votes than her rival.
There ’s a possibility , though slim, that Trump won’t be president if electors in the elctoral college vote decide to vote against the victor and vote against their states ’ results .
Read the interesting article by CNN .com below…
The 538 members of the Electoral College are set on Monday to make President- elect Donald Trump ’s victory official .
In all 50 state capitals and the District of Columbia , electors — chosen by the state parties of the candidate who carried their state , Trump or Hillary Clinton — will meet to cast their ballots . The gatherings will remove the last bit of drama from 2016 ’s unprecedented election season — and post- election efforts to persuade Republican electors to vote against Trump, in some cases in violation of state laws requiring electors to support the victor .
Heightening the tension in recent weeks : Clinton actually won the popular vote by about 3 million — making Trump the worst - performing winner in the popular vote since 1876 .
Trump’ s victory is not , as he has described it , a landslide . He is expected to garner just 56. 9% of the electoral vote , assuming all electors vote according to their states ’ results . That will give Trump the 44 th -largest share of the electoral vote out of 54 presidential elections since the modern system started in 1804 .
It ’s a better performance , though , than President George W. Bush ’s razor - tight victory in 2000 and slightly larger win in 2004 .
Bush , too , lost the popular vote — but Trump lost by a larger margin. He will become the worst- performing president in the popular vote relative to his closest rival aside from Rutherford B . Hayes in 1876 and John Quincy Adams in 1824 , an election that featured four candidates and was decided by the House of Representatives .
Clinton won 48 . 2% of the vote to Trump’ s 46.2 % — a lead of more than 2 .8 million votes and more than 2 % as of Friday , with that lead expected to grow as the final ballots are tallied .
There ’s no national meeting of the Electoral College. Instead , electors gather in each state — usually in the Capitol .
Under federal law , though , electors must gather on December 19 . And each elector must sign six copies certifying their votes for president and vice president.
Two ballots go to the National Archives . One goes to the president of the Senate . Two go to their state ’ s chief elections officer . And one goes to a local judge .
After Monday’ s votes , there is still one last step : On
January 6 , Congress has to officially count the electoral votes . Vice President Joe Biden will preside over the count.
Lawmakers can technically object — in writing , with objections signed by at least one House and one Senate member — to individual electoral votes or entire states ’ results . If the House and Senate support that objection , the vote or votes in question are thrown out . But that has never happened .
After the votes are counted , the results are final , and Trump is officially set for his inauguration at noon on
January 20 .

Trump gave $10,000 for west bank settlement

JERUSALEM -- U.S. President-elect Donald Trump donated $10,000 for a Jewish settlement in the West Bank in 2003.
According to a tax filing, the Donald J. Trump Foundation made the donation to a U.S. nonprofit group that raises funds for the Beit El settlement’s seminary, a news organization affiliated with the settler movement and other activities in the settlement.
Trump’s pick for ambassador to Israel, lawyer David Friedman, is the nonprofit’s president.
Beit El founder Yaakov Katz revealed Trump’s donation to Israeli settler radio Sunday.
The Obama administration, like many before it, considers West Bank settlements obstacles to peace . The Palestinians seek the territory, captured by Israel in 1967, for a state.
But an adviser to Trump has said Trump does not see settlements as an impediment to peace.
Trump’s transition team had no immediate comment.
In a recent interview for CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “I know Donald Trump. I know him very well. And I think his attitude, his support for Israel is clear.”
“He feels very warmly about the Jewish state, about the Jewish people and about Jewish people,” Netanyahu said. “There’s no question about that.

Aliko Dangote named in forbes most powerful persons

President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has been named along other world leaders as the most powerful people in the world. The recognition by famed American business magazine, Forbes, also listed Russian President, Vladimir Putin; United States’ President-elect, Donald Trump and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, among the over 70 personalities. Dangote was ranked as the second most powerful in the African continent.
Listed as number 71 most powerful last year, Dangote moved up the ladder of influential people as he was named as the 68th most powerful in the world, coming only after the Egyptian President, Abdel el-Sisi, who was adjudged the most powerful in Africa and 44th in the world.
The Nigerian business mogul has constantly featured in the list since 2013 when he was listed as the only black African so rated by Forbes Magazine in the list of 100 most powerful persons.
Forbes, in the latest edition of its 74 World Most Powerful People ranking list released at the weekend, identified 64-year-old Putin as the most powerful personality in the world ahead of Trump, who is second.
According to Forbes, while Merkel is ranked the third most powerful person, outgoing US President, Barack Obama, came 48th on the list. Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis, was recognised as the fifth most powerful person while the world’s richest, Bill Gates, was placed seventh.
Chinese President, Xi Jinping, is number four while Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, emerged number 10 most powerful person in the world. While Forbes acknowledged that there were nearly 7.4 billion people on planet earth, it, however, said that the 74 men and women recognised made the world turn.
As at 2013, Dangote was the only African listed among the most powerful people in the world before the Egyptian President now recently featured on the list.
Dangote had won the ‘2016 African Business Leader Award,’ organised by the Africa-America Institute (AAI), in New York in September. The Dangote Foundation, the most endowed Foundation in Africa established by him also won the ‘2016 African Philanthropy of the Year Award,’ at the All Africa Business Leaders Award (AABLA), put together by CNBC Africa, in Johannesburg, South Africa, in November 2016.
The magazine is well known for its lists and rankings, including its lists of the richest Americans (the Forbes 400) and rankings of world’s top companies (the Forbes Global 2000).
Another well-known list by the magazine is the The World’s Billionaires list. Last month, Dangote was named among 50 world’s most influential personalities by Bloomberg, the renowned United States-based news media with bias for business and financial news reporting. The group of personalities chosen by the Bloomberg Market consisted of CEOs, world leaders, as well as religious leaders.
As expected, Barack Obama, Angela Merkel and Pope Francis made the list with Dangote at number 41 on the list. According to Bloomberg, those on the list “build companies and assemble fortunes. They run banks, or hope to disrupt them.
They shape economies and spread ideas. They manage money and wield the clout that goes with the billions of dollars they invest.” Bloomberg said: “Aliko Dangote, Founder, Dangote Group, Africa’s most successful businessman, built his fortune in sugar, textiles, and cement in his native Nigeria, where today, he is a political as well as a financial power broker.
He is expanding in other countries and may list his cement company in London stock market.” Also, another list compiled by business news network, CNBC, which highlights those who have disrupted industries, sparked change and exercised an influence far beyond their own companies, listed Dangote among 24 others

I risked my life by going to talk with Boko Haram sect

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he risked his life by embarking on secret visit to leaders of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
Obasanjo, who revealed that his secret visit was to “talk sense” into leaders of the violent group, said he does not subscribe to the erroneous notion that all Muslims are terrorists.
He spoke as special guest of honour at the National Convention of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at held weekend in Ilaro, Ogun State to commemorate the 100 years of existence of the organisation.
The former president, sometime in 2011, visited the home of the in-law to the slain leader of Boko Haram, Mohammed Yusuf, in Borno State where he met Babakura Fuggu.
In his address titled, “Love for all, all for love” Obasanjo expressed concern that the global image of Islam had been constructed by the actions and inactions of violent groups with horrendous activities.
He argued that all the “crazy people” that claim Islam and perpetrate atrocities all over the world are far below one percent of the global Muslim population.
The ex-president, however, said Ahmadiyya and similar organisations must not be complacent when the narrative or perception of Islam is dictated by the fringe minority.

NNN Nigerian Another Ponzi Scheme surfaces

Barely three days after the alleged crashed of the Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox popularly known as MMM, another Ponzi scheme has surfaced in Nigeria.

Members of the famous money-doubling scheme, MMM were thrown into panic and great confusion on Tuesday, following the message from the ponzi scheme freezing all confirmed Mavros, otherwise known as money due for withdrawal for one month.

NNN is a community of ordinary people, selflessly helping each other, a kind of mutual aid. This is the first sprout of something new in modern soulless and ruthless world of greed and hard cash. The goal here is not the money. The goal is to ACQUIRE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, a statement on the NNN website reads.

The website is modeled after MMM Nigeria but while MMM promised 30% on investment, NNN promises 35%.

According to the website, NNN is owned by the participants, its a community by the people and for the people. A team of freedom lovers in America headed by an influential Yoruba man came up with a logic ad tested it offline in New York City in 2014. In September 2015, these men held a conference in VI Lagos where they introduced NNN logic. It was an improved MMM system- there will be no moratorium and the system will be automated.

Business:Inflation rose by 18.48%, unemployment hits 13.3%

The Consumer Price Index, which measures the rate of inflation in the country, rose by 18.48 per cent in November, figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Thursday revealed.
The NBS said in the CPI report that the 18.48 per cent inflation rate was 0.15 percentage points higher than the 18.33 per cent recorded in October.
The report blamed the rise in inflation rate on increases recorded in the housing, water, electricity, gas and clothing materials sectors.
The report read in part, “The CPI, which measures inflation, increased by 18.48 per cent (year-on-year) in November 2016, 0.15 percentage points higher than the rate recorded in October (18.33 per cent).
“During the month, the highest increases were seen in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, clothing materials, books, liquid fuel, and passenger transport by air, motorcycles and shoes.”
The report stated that communications and insurance indexes recorded the slowest pace of increase in November, rising at 5.61 per cent and 6.76 per cent year-on-year, respectively.
It said the food sub index increased by 17.19 per cent year-on-year in November, up by 0.10 percentage points from the 17.09 per cent recorded in October.
The Statistician General of the Federation and Chief Executive, NBS, Dr. Yemi Kale, said in an interview shortly after receiving an award from the Association of Northern Nigerian Students that from the recent data released by the bureau, it was obvious that the economy was beginning to recover.
For instance, he said the rate of increase in inflation had been slower that it was during the first eight months of this year.
This, he noted, was an indication that the policies of the government had started yielding results.
“If you look at the rate of inflation, it’s been rising at a slower rate for the last four months and so, while it is rising, the pace of increase has been slow; which suggests that the problems are being gradually resolved,” he stated.
The NBS also on Thursday said the country’s unemployment rate had risen from 13.3 per cent in the second quarter of this year to 13.9 per cent at the end of the third quarter.
The bureau stated this in the unemployment report, which was released in Abuja.
In the report, the bureau said the number of economically active people increased from 106.69 million in the second quarter to 108.03 million in the third quarter.
It added that during the period, a total number of 554,311 fresh people out of those that joined the labour force were unemployed in the third quarter.
This, according to the report, represents a 1.26 per cent increase over the previous quarter, and a 3.57 per cent increase when compared to the corresponding third quarter of 2015.
The report read in part, “The number of underemployed in the labour force increased by 501,074 or 3.25 per cent, resulting in an increase in the underemployment rate from 19.3 per cent in Q2 2016 to 19.7 per cent (15.9 million persons) in Q3 2016.
“This is a marginal increase of 0.4 percentage points between quarters two and three of 2016, and shows a steady rise in the rate since Q3 of 2015.
“During the reference period, the number of unemployed in the labour force increased by 554,311 persons, resulting in an increase in the national unemployment rate to 13.9 per cent in Q3 2016 from 13.3 per cent in Q2.”
The report stated that unemployment and underemployment were highest for persons in the labour force between the ages of 15-24 and 25-34, which represented the youth population.

Arsenal's Hitman Sanchez rejects £180,000 improved contract

Alexis Sanchez who currently earns £130K weekly is holding out for a vastly improved deal of £250K a week and has rejected an offer of £180K weekly. The prolific attacker is central to the Gunners' interest and the club is desperate to tie him down to a long term deal. They are however hesitant to meet his huge demands but remain hopeful a deal can be struck.
In contrast to Sanchez’s talks, there is a growing confidence at the Emirates that Ozil, 28, will sign a new deal. Wenger is adamant Sanchez and Mesut Ozil — who is also entering the final 18 months of his deal — will not be sold even if they have not penned fresh terms.

Lionel messi wanted by Chinese super league side,Hebei China fortune

LIONEL MESSI is wanted by mega-rich Chinese club Hebei China Fortune who will offer him over £80million a year.
Hebei China Fortune already possess the world’s highest paid player in the form of Lionel Messi’s Argentina countryman, Ezequiel Lavezzi.
And the side managed by ex-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini also have the likes of Stephane Mbia, Gael Kakuta and Gervinho on their payroll.
But Sky Sports are now reporting that they want to make the most ambitious move of all to capture one of, if not the best player on the planet in Barca’s Messi.
He turned down a new Nou Camp deal last summer
with reports suggesting he was unhappy with the club’s treatment of him during his high-profile tax fraud case, alerting other clubs.
Talks are ongoing between Barca and his father and agent Jorge flies to Spain – and Messi is understood to be demanding a whopping £825,000-a-week to sign – over £300,000 more than Cristiano Ronaldo pockets at Real Madrid.
Manuel Pellegrini would love Messi to join him in China
The 29-year-old’s current deal expires in 2018 and Barcelona are prepared to pay around £30m a year to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, as report.
Striking partner Luis Suarez is very close to penning a new deal with the Catalans, while Neymar agreed terms back in October.
It comes as Pellegrini is ready to make Alexis Sanchez the latest big name to join him , telling the Arsenal ace: "Come and join me in China."
Pellegrini, who has laid out a £500,000-A-WEEK welcome mat which will infuriate the Gunners, said: “If Alexis wants to come, we have a club for him right now. He can come to join us in China immediately.”

China Seizes U.S. Underwater Drone From International Waters, Pentagon Says

U.S. Navy
China has seized an unmanned underwater vehicle deployed by a U.S. Navy ship in international waters, according to Pentagon officials.
The seizure of the underwater vehicle took place Thursday, about 50 nautical miles northwest of Subic Bay in the Philippines, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement Friday.
The situation is unusual: U.S. Navy Capt. Jeff Davis told journalists there was no precedent for it in recent memory, NPR's Tom Bowman reports.
The Pentagon said the USNS Bowditch, an oceanographic survey ship, had two unclassified "ocean gliders" — unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) — in the water, conducting "routine operations in accordance with international law." The undersea drones measure things such as salinity and temperature.
The Bowditch was retrieving one vehicle when a Chinese warship pulled up, put a small boat in the water and retrieved the second UUV, officials told reporters.
The U.S. sent radio messages requesting that the drone be returned, the Pentagon statement said, but the Chinese ship merely acknowledged the messages and ignored the request.
No shots were fired by either vehicle, officials said, and the Chinese ship left with a final message that it was returning to normal operations — and with the drone.
The U.S. has issued a demarche — a formal diplomatic protest — and demanded the drone's return, Reuters reports.
"We call upon China to return our UUV immediately, and to comply with all of its obligations under international law," Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in his statement.
The incident occurred in the long-disputed waters of the South China Sea, where several countries have various overlapping territorial claims. China has been the most aggressive in claiming the strategically and economically significant waters as its own.

Satellite photos taken in the past few weeks appear to show a significant defense buildup on China's artificial islands in the South China Sea. Beijing uses the artificial islands as part of the justification for China's territorial claims — which were invalidated months ago by an international tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands.
That ruling is "legally binding, but all but impossible to enforce," as NPR's Anthony Kuhn put it at the time.
"The U.S. has consistently said it has no dog in the fight over conflicting claims in the South China Sea," Michael Sullivan reported for NPR this summer. "But ... the U.S. has conducted a series of high-profile freedom of navigation operations in the disputed waters, near the artificial islands China has created there."
The drone seizure also comes amid fresh tensions between China and the U.S., following moves by President-elect Donald Trump that have unsettled decades of diplomatic protocol.
Trump spoke with Taiwan's president by phone earlier this month, and told Fox News he "wouldn't feel bound by a one-China policy" — the policy holding that Taiwan is part of China, which China considers essential for diplomatic relations. China responded to Trump's latter comments by
expressing "serious concerns."
NPR's Rob Schmitz wrote last month that it's hard to tell how Trump's presidency will affect ties with China, which has been spending "more than ever" to expand its military capabilities.
He noted that one Trump adviser said Trump would beef up the U.S. fleet to defend U.S. trade in the South China Sea — which directly conflicts with Trump's campaign rhetoric.
The drone incident also could impact diplomatic relations with the Philippines.
The U.S. and the Philippines, a former U.S. colony, have been closely tied for decades; the two countries are treaty allies. In recent years, a rise in tensions between Manila and Beijing has led to a growing U.S. military presence in the Philippines.
But the Philippines' new president, Rodrigo Duterte, has signaled a shift away from the U.S. and made overtures to China.
"There's no doubt Duterte is trying to reset the Philippines' fractious relationship with China, a falling-out based largely on Beijing's recent territorial moves in the South China Sea," Michael Sullivan reported for NPR this fall. "But there's also little doubt that Manila's relationship with Washington is on the rocks — and not just because of U.S. criticism of Duterte's war on drugs, which has left more than 3,000 dead since the president took office in June."
One expert told Sullivan that there's widespread belief in the Philippines that the U.S. commitment to the Philippines is "limited," and would not extend to substantive assistance for Manila in a real conflict with Beijing.

Russia and Japan to meet over disputed territory

Russia and Japan are due to meet over a territorial dispute that has prevented the two countries from signing a peace treaty after World War II.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will host Vladimir Putin on the Russian leader's first official visit to a G-7 country since Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea at a hot spring in his ancestral city of Nagato on Thursday. There are hopes of achieving a breakthrough over the territory off Japan's northern coast seized by Soviet troops in 1945.
The four islands are known as the Southern Kurils in Russia and the Northern Territories in Japan, and the dispute has been a thorn in relations for more than seven decades.
Despite months of preparation, the outlook is not good, with both sides recently damping down expectations of major progress.
"I want to go into this summit with determination to end the issue in my generation," Abe told former residents of the islands earlier this week, suggesting an agreement remains distant.
He would like to seal a deal as soon as possible as former residents are ageing and dwindling in number.
Putin, who is making his first visit to Japan in more than a decade, said he wanted to end the "anachronism" of the two countries not having a World War II peace treaty.
"But how to do this is a difficult question," he told Japanese media.
Al Jazeera's Natasha Ghoneim, reporting from Sakhalin, said: "The islands are very remote, not well developed, and most Russian have never been there. There are around 19,000 people living there. Most of them are Russian military personnel and their families.
"But from a military standpoint they are strategic and it is believed to be oil and gas resources there as well as resources for the fishing industry."
Moscow hopes to break sanctions
Russia hopes to clinch deals with Japanese companies as part of an Asian pivot in response to a decision by Western governments, including Japan, to impose sanctions in 2014 over Moscow's role in the Ukraine conflict.
Putin told the Japan's Yomiuri newspaper this week that the goal of a peace treaty would be harder to achieve if Russia remained subject to Japanese sanctions.
However, Japan's trade minister, Hiroshige Seko, has ruled out any economic cooperation with Russia that would undermine G7 unity on the sanctions.
For Abe, the issue is also a "legacy" from his late father Shintaro, who took the lead in negotiations with Moscow as a foreign minister but died in 1991 after pushing for talks while suffering from cancer
The two leaders will move from Nagato to Tokyo on Friday for more talks and a joint press appearance before attending an economic forum.

Jamb to start using CCTV cameras as from 2017

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has insisted that henceforth, all computer-based centres to be accredited for the registration of 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), must have Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.
This position was revealed by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, during the examination body’s interactive meeting with the operators of CBT centres drawn across the federation.
The meeting held at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka.
According to Oloyede, the move was part of the measures being taken by JAMB to avoid errors of the past and ensure that the best is offered Nigerians.
He said the new process has completely phased out cybercafé operators, adding that the computer-based centres to be accredited must have 250 desktop or laptop systems in a single room with provision for additional 25 systems as back-ups.
Oloyede, who also revealed that during registrations of candidates at the cybercafés there should be no exchange of cash, said accredited banks should be partnered to ensure the success of the cashless policy.
The board also informed the CBT operators that all the 10 fingers of candidates must be captured during data capturing, and that anyone whose whole 10 fingers cannot be captured by the CBT centres should be directed to the headquarters of JAMB in Abuja.
The measure according to JAMB is to avoid multiple registrations by candidates.
The meeting, which was attended by thousands of computer operators across the country, witnessed debates among participants on several issues including the suggestion for the cancellation of UTME mobile applications.
Oloyede said; “What we have said is that we are in a period of change, and what that means is that everything we have been doing must be reviewed. Whatever we have been doing rights will have to be reinforced while what were doing wrongly will be changed. For the purpose of the CBT centres, we have to introduce the CCTV so that whatever that is going on at our centres can be monitored anywhere in the world.
“We are also standardizing the CBT centres so that all CBT centres will have 250 computers with 10 per cent of the figure as backups

How MMM Warned Nigeria's Before Freezing Everybody's Account

Several hours before it froze payments out of the system, MMM Nigeria warned its members not to be greedy.

The scheme on Tuesday morning announced a temporary payment freeze on all accounts for a month. It said the measure is to ensure the sustainability and stability of the platform.

The previous evening, it tweeted: "MMM has always advised that you use your #SpareMoney. Use your #SpareMoney and #SpareMoney only. Don't be unnecessarily greedy."

Ashley Williams strikes late to give Everton all three points

Alexis scored in the first half to give the Gunners the edge, but they were unable to score even a point as they conceded very late on.
Ashley Williams proved to be the unlikely hero for 10-man Everton as they handed Arsenal their second Premier League defeat of the season by securing a dramatic 2-1 victory at Goodison Park on Tuesday.
Defender Williams headed home Ross Barkley’s corner in the 86th minute to clinch just a second league victory in the last 11 outings for Ronald Koeman’s side
Alexis Sanchez’s 12th league goal of the season had given the visitors a 20th-minute lead, though his free-kick needed a deflection off the unfortunate Williams to find the net.
Yet any ideas Arsene Wenger’s men had of taking over from Chelsea at the top of the league disappeared when they conceded late on in each half to lose on their travels for the first time since March.
Everton levelled just prior to the interval when full-backs Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman conjured up an equaliser, the former’s right-footed cross setting up the latter to head home from close range.
Williams then popped up with a winner, although that was not the end of the drama. Phil Jagielka saw red in injury time after picking up a second booking, as the hosts just about held firm in a frantic finish.
Barkley, in as one of four changes from the defeat at Watford, was involved in the opening goal too, surrendering possession to trigger an Arsenal counter-attack that was emphatically halted by Phil Jagielka’s lunge on Francis Coquelin.
Sanchez capitalised on the set-piece opportunity, his low strike from the edge of the area clipped off Williams’ standing leg and beyond wrong-footed goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
But, after a tepid start, Everton eventually warmed to their task.
Romelu Lukaku and Aaron Lennon both wasted opportunities to test Petr Cech by blasting wide before Coleman scored a deserved equaliser a minute before the break.
Having gambled on running into the penalty area from his usual position on the flank, Coleman was picked out by an inviting centre from Baines to nod his side level.
Arsenal wasted a glorious chance to retake the lead in the opening minutes of the second half when Mesut Ozil lifted his shot over after meeting Sanchez’s low cross from the left.
The German looked set to have another opportunity as Hector Bellerin’s pass put him through on goal, only for Stekelenburg to rush from his line and smother the danger.
At the other end, Cech was relieved to see Barkley drag a low, left-footed drive just wide of the target.
Wenger summoned Alex Iwobi and Olivier Giroud from the bench in an attempt to find a winning goal in the final 20 minutes, yet it was Williams who had the final say with his first Everton goal.
The Wales international rose high to powerfully head home, then showed strength in his own penalty area during a goalmouth scramble in injury time after Jagileka had been dismissed by referee Mark Clattenburg.

Nigeria loses $1billion every year to gas flare data

Nigeria loses an estimated $1billion (about N305 billion) in revenue every year due to the falsification of gas flare data, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has revealed.
The minister spoke yesterday in Abuja at a gas competence seminar with the theme ‘Towards ending gas flaring and unlocking gas potential in Nigeria.” He hinted that the Federal Government would set up an independent tracking mechanism in 2017 to ascertain the actual volume of gas that was flared in the country.
“My take is that we lose over half a billion to a billion of government revenue looking at the basis of the present penalties position. Nobody is effectively monitoring the volume, so when you actually go for the real effect of what is flared, in terms of statistics, it is much higher than those figures. However, we must appreciate the efforts that have been made in the past to increase penalties, among others,” Kachikwu said.
According to the minister, there is an urgent need for the country to devise a policy that will be targeted at eliminating gas flaring.
“Beginning next year, we will be putting up an independent tracking mechanism, not relying on figures from the IOCs and from the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) to find out what really is the flare volume. My feeling is that there is a lot of management of those figures to suit the cap of the penalties that are being charged,” he said.
In a related development, the Senate yesterday began an investigation into an alleged non-remittance of $5.6 billion by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and one of its subsidiaries, the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC).
Adopting a motion sponsored by Dino Melaye (APC- Kogi West), the Senate alleged that from 2013 to date, the NPDC has continued to lift crude oil from divested wells OML 61, 62 and 63 worth over $3.487billion without remitting the money to the Federation Account.
The upper legislative chamber therefore mandated its committees on Petroleum Upstream and Finance to investigate the allegation with a view to recovering the money due to the Federation Account.
The lawmakers also mandated the NNPC and NPDC to immediately remit monies obtained on behalf of the Federal Government to the Federation Account upon lifting.
After the motion was passed, Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki said: “We must put an end to this level of misappropriation and recklessness. This must stop. I believe that this committee has a duty to ensure that it works very hard to get to the bottom of this. Even more worrisome is the fact that they did it in the last administration and now they are carrying out the same practice again. We must put an end to this, we cannot continue with a situation where some people are sabotaging the efforts to fight corruption.”
Also yesterday, the House of Representatives commenced an investigation of key oil companies which are allegedly indebted to the country to the tune of over N500 billion. The marketers allegedly involved in the huge indebtedness are Oando, Forte Oil, Total Oil, Conoil, Masters Energy Oil and Gas Ltd. Others are MRS Oil and Gas, Heyden Petroleum, Rahamaniyya Petroleum, Amicable Petroleum, Aiteo Petroleum, Honeywell Oil, Capital Oil, Felande Petroleum, Sharon Oil and Zamson Petroleum.
The Speaker of the House, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, who inaugurated the Abdullahi Gaya led ad-hoc committee justified the move, saying it was aimed at plugging the loopholes in existing laws and practices in the downstream sector of the economy.
Represented by the Chief Whip, Mr. Ado Doguwa, the speaker said: “We expect that in no distant future, the committee will be inviting some companies and individuals to provide answers to questions as to what happened to the downstream sector. We hope that this committee will conduct its affairs in a serious and corruption-free manner as the House will not tolerate any evidence of undue influence or improper conduct.”
Gaya who reechoed the speaker’s position said the hearing underlined the resolve by the lower legislative chamber to return the country to the path of economic prosperity
The House had adopted a motion sponsored by Mr. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe (Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency of Cross River State) on the urgent need to investigate the huge debts owed the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) by some major and independent oil marketers.
Jarigbe had alleged that “there is a connivance and compromise by functionaries of PPMC to leave government funds in the hands of these marketers, thereby putting the country in dire financial straits.”

Governor fayose of Ekiti sacks 400 staffs of the state university

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has revoked the employment of over 400 staff of the state university.
He said the recent recruitment did not follow due process.
The Governor, who made this disclosure on Wednesday in Ado Ekiti, said he was shocked that over 400 persons would be offered employment without the positions being advertised.
He spoke during an interactive session with the participants in the N-Power Programme of the Federal Government from the state at the Government House, Ado Ekiti.
Fayose at the event promised a reward of N1m and full employment for the best participant in the N-Power Programme.
“This is only a palliative as it will last for only two years and I am strongly appealing to the Federal Government to take the issue of job creation serious. When somebody partakes in this programme and is sent back to the labour market after two years, that is going back to where he or she started, the labour market.
“As for us, we will do our duty to distribute participants to where they would work and monitor them as well as ensuring that we do a proper data capturing of the participants.
“For those in the agriculture arm of the programme, they can take advantage of our desire to adequately support rice and cocoa cultivation.
“We will support in the provision of inputs and clearing of land. Next year, we are committing about N250 million to clear farmlands across the state.
“From the participants, we can get serious ones who could be useful in the teaching service and other areas,” he said.

German chancellor Angela Merkel wants to extends EU sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine conflicts

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande said Tuesday they favour extending EU sanctions against Russia over the Ukraine conflict, ahead of a Brussels summit that will discuss the issue.
Merkel said that — given grave shortcomings in the Ukraine peace process, which has been marred by regular ceasefire violations — “it will be necessary to extend sanctions against Russia once more”.
Hollande, speaking at a joint Berlin press conference with Merkel, agreed there had been insufficient progress in implementing the Minsk peace agreement.
“Since there hasn’t been an effort made, no progress, and the same blockages remain, I, like the chancellor, am in favour of extending sanctions,” he said.
Neither the Ukrainian government nor the pro-Russian rebels waging an insurgency in the country’s east have fully implemented the agreements — designed to bring an end to a conflict that has claimed 10,000 lives since 2014 — and low-level fighting continues.
In Brussels, a European official said last week that Merkel and Hollande would recommend extending the sanctions to EU leaders at the summit on Thursday.
“There appears to be consensus,” said this official, adding that a formal deal to prolong sanctions could be clinched in January.
“But for some member states, it’s important to listen to Merkel and Hollande first,” this official added.
Imposed in July 2014 after the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over rebel-held eastern Ukraine, the EU sanctions target the Russian energy, defence and finance sectors.
Currently in force until January 31 next year, they are the subject of debate among EU member states, with some arguing they should be lifted as Moscow has imposed retaliatory measures hurting especially European farmers.

Crisis in Gambia as President Yahya Jammeh is refusing to concede defeat to Adama Barrow

Military intervention in The Gambia is "possible" if President Yahya Jammeh does not step down after having lost elections, the head of the West African regional bloc Ecowas has said.
Diplomacy was the preferred path, but "draconian" measures would have to be considered if it failed, Marcel de Souza told France's RFI radio station.
Four West African leaders are in The Gambia for crisis talks with Mr Jammeh.
He initially accepted defeat to Adama Barrow, before changing his mind.
Asked whether Ecowas would consider sending troops into The Gambia, Mr de Souza told Radio France Internationale: "We have done it in the past. We currently have troops in Guinea-Bissau with the Ecomib mission. We have had troops in Mali. And therefore it is a possible solution."
The leaders of Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone all arrived earlier in the Gambian capital Banjul as part of a delegation to persuade President Jammeh to step down.
The Gambia's opposition coalition has asked President Yahya Jammeh to step down immediately, after he challenged his defeat in the recent election.
The UN Security Council met on Monday and urged him to meet international mediators who have been sent to the capital, Banjul.
Mr Jammeh, who has ruled the country for 22 years, has questioned the validity of the count after the electoral commission changed some results, even though it insists the outcome was not affected.

Arsene wenger seeks divine favour against Baryern munich in the Uefa champions league round of 16

Arsene Wenger feels guilty about Arsenal’s Champions League failures and the Frenchmen is hoping a quote from the bible can act as inspiration when they face Bayern Munich in the round of 16.
Arsenal will aim to reach the quarter-finals for a first time in seven seasons when they face Bayern in February and March, having lost twice to the Germans and Barcelona, and once each to AC Milan and Monaco in their last six campaigns.
“We are all here to change history and to make history, so we have to change what happened before and make it better,” the Arsenal manager told British media.
“Look, the last six years we have not come past the last 16. They said that God made the world in seven days and this is the seventh day for us! So we have to get a special day.”
Arsenal hoped to avoid a European heavyweight after topping their group but were pitted against Bayern for the fourth time in five seasons when the draw was made on Monday.
“I am responsible for the results so I don’t want to escape when I don’t meet the expectations of people who love this club,” Wenger added.
“You feel guilty because you always question yourself first and your decision making. I think that’s completely normal.”
Despite Bayern’s superior head-to-head record against Arsenal in recent seasons, assistant manager Paul Clement said he expected a tougher test but felt the hectic festive schedule will be the undoing of the English Premier League club, reports Reuters.
“Arsenal have got great players throughout… But we have a lot of very good offensive players too, so it’ll be a very interesting tie. It’s the biggest game of the round, for me,” Clement told Talksport radio.
“Bayern have had the upper hand against Arsenal recently, but this is a totally different season. It will be interesting going into February what the momentum of the two teams is — that’s important.
“Arsenal are going to have a busy winter period and we have a four-week winter break, so hopefully we will be able to take advantage of that.

Deputy senate President, Senator Ike Ekrweremadu wants one term for office holders

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has charged the Constitution and Electoral Reform Committee to help restore the fast declining independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in order to preserve the nation’s democracy.
He also suggested single term of office to reduce desperation and impunity by politicians as well as the conduct of party primaries by INEC to reduce the life and death struggle by politicians for control of party machinery.
Ekweremadu stated this at the retreat organised by the presidential Committee in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo Say's Ballon d'or victory was clauded by tax fraud allegations

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo says his Ballon d’Or victory celebrations have been tarnished by allegations of tax fraud.
Ronaldo, who picked up his fourth footballer of the year award on Monday, says the allegations have been hard to bear for himself and his loved ones.
They also “partly spoiled the pleasure” of winning his fourth Ballon d’Or.
“It would be a lie to say otherwise,” he told France Football magazine in an interview published in part by the sports daily L’Equipe.
Twelve European newspapers have published excerpts of the so-called Football Leaks dossier, based on documents obtained by the German weekly Der Spiegel, including allegations concerning Ronaldo and other top footballers.
According to the reports, the Portuguese striker used tax havens to stash away 150 million euros ($160 million) he earned from image rights, an accusation he denies.
“Obviously this has not been good for me,” he said.
“It is hard not only for me but also for the people who are near me: my family, my son, all those who work with me.”

Improving mental illness knowledge is good for artists. By Kelani

Film producer, Tunde Kelani, says that artistes have the responsibility to learn more about mental illness in order to apply the knowledge in their movies.
Kelani told journalists on Thursday in Lagos that such movies would influence and educate the society about mental illness.
He spoke on the side-lines of the Annual Conference organised by the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Yaba in Lagos.
The conference has the theme, “Religion and Mental Illness’’.
“We are in a period of cultural vacuum and that is why we are witnessing so much ignorance in its representation.
“For the artiste and filmmakers, we have the responsibility to find out first because, we, even in civilised societies, need to undergo counselling in health issues, especially mental illness.
“Because the artiste is limited in knowledge, they, therefore, tend to portray somebody who has mental illness in ways that are sensational enough just to make money.
“We have the responsibility to, first of all, learn more before we can apply that to influence and educate the society,’’ he said.
Also, the hospital’s ARD President, Dr Kenneth Uwaje, said the role of religion as regards mental illness largely had to do with the fact that religion was a component of the Nigerian culture.
Uwajeh said: “The cultural perspective is a therapeutic model because when you understand how people think, feel and understand, then you can address the issues they have.
“Religious practices are where many of these patients turn to because they are largely inbuilt as a way of life’’.
The president said that there was the need for religious leaders to be knowledgeable about the signs, symptoms and effect of mental illness so that they could bring patients to the hospital.
“We want to permute the world of the religious perspective in order to emancipate those who are trapped.
“We want to be able to reduce the stigma that patients faced, including being flogged or stripped in the name of expunging a demon in public.
“This complicates the mental illness because the patient, already with mental illness, is looked upon with disdain and even when he gets the treatment he does not forget his experience.
“Religion can help, but people use it to hurt; we want to give people direction on how to use religion to help and help alone,’’ Uwajeh said.

I have not received salary since becoming Governor, Say's Gov Aregbesola

He said this during the launch of Oodua FM in Ile-Ife on Sunday.
“When people complain about our financial state, I begin to wonder if they think I am spending people’s money. Some of you do not know that I have not received any salary since I became governor- of Osun state, why will I take that of others,” said Mr. Aregbesola, who became governor in November 2010.
According to the pay package prepared by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and which became effective 2009, a state governor earns a monthly salary of N2.2 million.
He is however entitled to several other perks, including constituency allowance of N4.44 million, hardship allowance N1.11 million, leave allowance N222, 370.00, and newspaper allowance N333,555.75.
Osun State has been in deep financial crisis for a long while and has been unable to pay salaries of workers.
Besides, the governor who began his second term in office in November 2014, has not appointed commissioners.
The poor financial condition of the state has also made it impossible to live up to its obligations to the Ladoke Akintola University, Ogbomosho, which it jointly funds with Oyo State.
Mr. Aregbesola said the economic crisis was not only affecting Osun state but also other states, noting “there is no free money anywhere.”
He explained that he refused to appoint commissioners because of the state’s poor financial condition.
“How will I have commissioners when we have no money?” he asked.
“The minority leader of Osun state House of Assembly wrote a post on Facebook complaining that I have not paid them. We don’t have the money, even the minority leader does not have a car.”
The governor advised the owner of the radio station, Rotimi Malone, to use it to develop of the state rather than for politics.
Mr. Aregbesola criticized the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation for allegedly performing below expectation.
According to him, “Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation has set standards but they just do things anyhow. There was a time that Osun state was almost torn apart through the media but Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation refused to act.”
